Remembrance Day – Sunday, 11th. November, 2012.

A parade was assembled outside St. Bartholomew’s
Church, Westhoughton consisting of Church Ministers,
Town Mayor and Council, Standard Bearers, Civic
Dignitaries, Townspeople, Scouts, Guides and
Brownies which arrived back at the church for the
service which commenced at 10am.

Following this, the congregation moved outside to the
War Memorial and joined the large crowd which had
already assembled.

Wreaths were laid by the various organisations
including one on behalf of the West Lancashire Mark
Masons which was laid by W.Bro. Arthur Robinson.

At 11am a maroon was fired to mark two minutes
silence with the sounding of the `Last Post’ by a
member of Greenfield Band.

At the end of the two minutes a further maroon
was fired followed by `Reveille’ and additional
wreaths were laid before the people dispersed
either to a further parade around the town or back
into the church for communion.

It was very noticeable that the attendances were much higher than last year both inside the church and at
the memorial.
